On December 3rd, 2020 we inducted new members into our Iota Tau chapter in a virtual ceremony. Welcome to Sigma!

At induction, Dr. Linda Shanta, PhD, RN, ANEF, gave a wonderful talk about the role of Sigma, leadership in nursing, and how education empowers nurses. Thank you Dr. Shanta!

  • Common Ground

    In the past decade and beyond, Common Ground has facilitated the education of a weekly average of 40 student, staff, faculty and community attendees in the areas of health disparities and community programming.
    Common Ground is a weekly interprofessional forum sponsored by Health Sciences - Multicultural and Community Affairs.  In Common Ground, all health sciences students can learn the principles of health disparities and health equity from health professionals, researchers and community partners. 

    Common Ground is a multicultural forum that promotes integrated academic and professional relationships among students and faculty, making it an ideal context in which to discuss health disparities.

  • McDaniel Foundation Scholarship Winners

    Iota Tau would like to congratulate the winners of the McDaniel Foundation Scholarship: Mandy Sue Putman, Emily Sanders, and Samantha Issac. One nursing student from each of Creighton's Nursing Campuses, Omaha, Grand Island, and Phoenix, were selected for this scholarship. The award covers the cost of their membership to be inducted into Iota Tau. Jonathan McDaniel passed away in June 2015. In August 2015, his widow, Jennifer Genua-McDaniel, established this scholarship to honor Jonathan's memory and make sure his legacy lives on.   • International Awards for Nursing Excellence

    Hey Iota Tau! Did you know Sigma has a number of rewards for nursing excellence and you can nominate fellow nurses for them? Know someone deserving of an award? Check out all the awards and nominate someone! Nominations are due March 1, 2021.
  • NCLEX Resources

    Hey undergraduate and accelerated nursing new members! Sigma has some good resources to help you prepare for the NCLEX! There's a free course you can take to help you prepare. There are also two great videos by Sigma on YouTube.

    This video focuses on strategies for the content that is the most likely to show up on your NCLEX exam.

  • 46th Biennial Convention

    Sigma's Biennial Convention will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana November 6-10, 2021!

    The biennial convention, featuring outstanding plenary speakers, networking opportunities, over 800 oral and poster presentations, and the opportunity to travel to our headquarters city, rich in culture, sports, and tradition.

    Join Sigma members and global leaders in nursing as we come together to celebrate our heritage over the last 100 years, build upon our successes, and embrace the 2019-2021 presidential call to action:

    Infuse Joy: "We must start wherever we are today to find, create, and leverage joy."

    On the web page for the Biennial Convention, you can submit an abstract to present. 

    Sigma is also accepting nominations for the 2021 International Awards for Nursing Excellence. Awards are conferred to nurses, chapters, and institutions each biennium for contributions in the fields of technology, media, chapter excellence, research, leadership, and practice.

  • Free CPDs!

    Did you know? As a Sigma member, you can access CPDs for FREE!

    To access the CPDs, log in to your membership page. From there, select "Access Continuing Nursing Education Courses" from the left drop down menu. There are many different topics to chose from!
    From your membership page, you can also update your contact information, change your email preferences, find volunteer opportunities, and shop on the Sigma Marketplace!
